A little while back I hit the first of what I hope to be many milestones. I hit 100k gold and let my Twitter followers know about it when it happened. As of right now I am sitting at just over 100k gold. Honestly, I never though I would see that number. That is the most gold anyone I personally know has ever seen on their account. I think the best part about this is that I hit it with the last 20k or so coming just from using the Mobile AH on my phone. It is awesome to have all those TUJ item updates emailed to me, then be able to switch right over and buy something that is at a good price.
Now the reason I've been doing most of my goblining using the mobile AH is that life has taken a twist and my already limited play time has become even more limited. So my perspective on gold making is about to become very narrow indeed. It should be an interesting challenge to see how much gold I can make on a super limited play schedule. I may have to hit up TUJ some more and create a second account for some different alerts. I have some thoughts on how to make the most of my time, but I need to organize them a bit more and do some research before I let them get ahead of me.
For now I look for bargins, repost at good profit margins, and play when I can.
The Slow March to the Cap
Watch me as I flail my way to the gold cap. It should be interesting to see me try anyway.

Learning is Hard
First some business.
I changed the name of the blog. It was Athmet's Gold March, it is now The Slow March to the Cap. I did this to 1) remind me that my goal is to hit the cap and 2) let any potential readers know that it will take me some time to get there. I don't get a ton of time to play, so this will be a slow and steady forced march to the top of the mountain.
Okay, on to the talking about making gold.
This week so far I am in a HUGE HOLE!!! The Firelands vendors unlocked and I wasn't paying attention and didn't stockpile the one thing I could, Truegold. Now I had some success in the early hours of the race to make and sell the first one. I had bought and flipped some stacks people had listed at lower prices, and I had around 60kish gold in cash. That is when the greedy goblin kicked in.
I saw a stack of 20 listed at 750g each. I was out at lunch with family and friends and talking about it with the one that is just starting to get interested in gold making. We talked about why I would spend that much, what I could do with that lange a stack, and in the end decided I would buy it so I could get my wife and I BiS main hands. With Truegold being the main component in both of our weapons, I would just need some less expensive mats and almost be getting the weapons for half price. "Good deal" I though to my self. Then I saw the prices keep going up. So being greedy I relisted all 20 for what would have been a 150g profit each. But everyone else started listing at about that time, to the prices started going down, really far down being that is was coming up to a weekend.
Now this is were the learning come is for me. I learned that the Truegold market, and most markets in general, is slow. I saw the initial frenzy of listing and buying and got the mind set that that was "normal". It is far from normal in actuality. So being in that mindset I tried to keep the price a little higher, close to where my "big money" was gonna come from, and bought 10ish more Truegold. That is about when the bottom dropped out of the market. So many people were listing, and people stopped buying in large quantities. Yeah, I burned myself pretty hard on that one.
The good news out of all of this is it is just a fake currency in a non-real world. I'm set back from my goal a small amount, but nothing too crazy. I'm sure I will recover in time, especially with prices still hovering around 800g per Truegold. I'll just remember to stockpile next time, and try to not be so greedy.

Welcome to this thing
So here we are.
You are reading this, I am writing it.
Yes it is another gold blog. I hope I will give some good insight as what to, and what not to, do while on the road to the gold cap. I'm sure I will cover many of the things already covered in many of the other gold blogs out there. I just feel the need to give my own little advice about how and where to start, where not to go, how to go about doing it... you know, just like every one else. Except I hope to make it a little more interesting and drama free.
As it stands now I have 50k gold in the bank. I've been a little flat the last couple weeks due to the fact I've let my foot off the peddel a bit, but I'm sure it will pick up again soon. Just need to get my schedule down and get my head back in the game.
50k is the most I have ever had in Wow. Not a lot to some, unimaginable amount to others. I'm actually pretty happy with it. It's enough I can invest in most items if I want to try to flip it, or if I'm crazy I can just buy something for myself.
I, also, intend to blog about other non-gold related things just to keep in interesting. It can't all be about making money. Gotta have a little balance in there to keep us all sane.
So here we are. We like to call this the start.
